About The Game

The Hidden Scrolls is an indie RPG strategy hybrid from Red Dragon Studio set in a stylized China during the Spring and Autumn period, where ink painting blends seamlessly with the textures of oil painting across five atmospheric regions filled with mist-shrouded mountains, overgrown bamboo groves, and ruins. You'll battle monsters, bandits, and humans transformed into demons while collecting bamboo tablets that unlock the secrets of the story. Assemble expeditionary teams from 13 character classes including swordsmen, doctors, shamans, and drummer warriors where success depends on tactical placement and skill synergy, allowing you to employ a variety of strategies against 60 creatures and over 10 unique bosses.

Combat has a psychological component: teammates can either be inspired or flee in panic, and the permadeath system forces difficult decisions about whether to risk saving fallen allies. Between expeditions, you manage a base, constructing buildings and recruiting famous historical figures, such as Lord Xinling to bolster your ranks, Yan Ying to maintain morale, and Gan Jiang to craft weapons. City management involves performing rituals, research, and upgrading equipment, preparing you for increasingly dangerous journeys. The game combines roguelike tension with constant character death, strategic squad building, and base development, all wrapped in a distinctive Chinese fantasy aesthetic.
